Mono County Mental Health (MCMH) provides counseling services for children, teens, and adults with serious mental disorders such as depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, or schizophrenia. Individual and group counseling services are available as is an after hours crisis mental health service. Eligibility for our services includes full scope Medi-Cal beneficiaries, Healthy Families beneficiaries, and CMSP beneficiaries with low or no share of cost. Those who do not meet our eligibility criteria are assessed on an individual basis regarding their need for services. Individuals falling into this latter category will be charged a fee, based on their income, for services rendered. Spanish language services are available. Satellite services are available in Walker on Monday and Wednesday. Psychiatry is available three days most weeks in Mammoth Lakes. The psychiatrist also provides services in Bridgeport one to two days a month and services in Walker one day a month. The main MCMH offices in Mammoth Lakes are open from 8 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday. The after hours crisis system can be accessed via the 911 emergency call system. A crisis is defined as a client who is potentially suicidal, homicidal, or unable to meet basic needs for food, clothing or shelter because of a mental disorder. All crises are evaluated in Mammoth Hospital Emergency Room. Alcohol and drug counseling services are available Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 7 PM in Mammoth Lakes and every Friday in Walker. Residential treatment services are contracted out to Sierra Recovery Center in South Lake Tahoe. Mono County provides outpatient, intensive outpatient and sober living services for Mono County residents. The primary location for these services is Mammoth Lakes. Mono County also operates the level I and II drinking driver programs, the PC 1000 program and the Proposition 36 program.
