HIV/AIDS Program The Mono County HIV/AIDS Department provides the following services: HIV Testing: It's free and confidential, and offered in several locations throughout the county. Education and Prevention: We offer educational presentations and brochures, and sponsor events at schools, churches, and civic and community organizations. CARES (Comprehensive AIDS Resources Emergency Services): This program provides confidential services for HIV-positive people, their partners, and their family members who live in Mono County. These services include case management to help identify needs and provide referrals to community resources, and financial assistance to help obtain public benefits and medical services, such as financial assistance for food, rent, and utilities. Surveillance: We meet with the hospital and community clinic staff to insure that all local cases of the disease are reported to the Department of Health Services.
